How to Style a Maxi Dress in seven different ways + OOTD

Recently, I received this gorgeous black maxi dress in the mail to style. Instantly, I came up with loads of different styling ideas, and ultimately, I decided to create a look book video showing seven different ways to style the dress from a casual day look to a super glam night look. It is so much fun to wear things in different ways and create an entirely different vibe! Check out the video above to see the seven different looks I created!

Speaking of this gorgeous dress, below are some photos of when I wore it out on Saturday. The dress is the Tiffany dress from GCGme. (Check out some of their other gorgeous black dresses here)This is my first time wearing a dress from this company, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but gosh, I was totally impressed with this piece! The construction and design are beautiful, plus it is soooooooo comfortable! Check out my look below:

Plus Size OOTD: Charlotte Russe Red Tulle Skirt

I am finally getting around to posting this fab red tulle skirt I wore on Christmas day! Hopefully, it is worth the wait. Right before Christmas, my friend and I were shopping in Charlotte Russe... but first, I didn't even know they had plus size clothing!!! I was super excited to see another retailer offering cute, affordable plus size clothing. Anyway, we were shopping and I spotted a section of beautiful tulle skirts. I love tulle! So dreamy and whimsical.

At first, I was going to get the plum colored skirt and then a sales associate convinced me that the red tulle skirt was the one for me! I decided to give it a try. I love when other people offer a great, fresh perspective on something and get the gears in my head to turn.

My lovely little skirt sat there hanging on my clothing rack in my room for a few weeks before I finally decided how I wanted to style it and where I wanted to wear it. I decided to wear it to a family holiday gathering with sparkly heels and an edgy moto jacket.

I love adding a little bit of edge and metal accents to an otherwise very feminine look. For this look, I have my sparkly pumps, handbag with chain strap and belt with metal buckle and of course, the zippers and hardware on my jacket.

This top is one that I found at H&M earlier in the fall and fell so in love with it that I bought two! I have this black one and a striped one. It is so easy to wear with so many different things. I kept my accessories to a minimum so that the focus could be on my beautiful skirt and sparkly shoes!

Review: K Couture Custom Dress

One of my fave looks from my recent winter look book video (see it in action above) is this fab little blue dress I paired with a magenta moto jacket. This feminine little blue dress is perfect on its own for cocktail parties, weddings and special occasions. For my look book, I decided to show a different side by adding a colorful, edgy jacket.

What I didn't mention in my video is that I was able to design this dress myself from the K Couture website! It was such an exciting, creative experience. It was also super easy to do! I was able to choose the color, sleeve, neckline, dress material, dress length, fullness, waistline, sash and sash color using the Design a Dress tool. Ever seen a dress and thought it would be perfect in a different color, different length or maybe a different material? Or maybe you just want to create your own custom look based on a vision you have in your mind. Well, now you can customize a dress to fit your style and needs perfectly!

My design is a royal blue chiffon dress accented with a Tiffany blue and rhinestone sash. The flowy chiffon and sweetheart neckline create such a soft, feminine look. The mini cap sleeves are perfect to wear on during warm days or during indoor events, and also fit perfectly under a jacket in colder weather. The sleeve width was perfect, sometimes I worry with sleeves being too snug when a dress doesn't have stretch, but the sleeves measurements of this dress worked out perfectly.

A closer look at the perfectly cut sweetheart neckline shows the exquisite quality of the design and the talents of the dressmakers at K Couture. I love the contrast of the Tiffany Blue sash with the Royal Blue dress. I prefer a defined waistband, and the contrasting sash gave me the look I was hoping for.

A side view of the dress highlights the clean design and great stitching.

A look at the back shows the hidden zipper closure. Again, this shows very clean lines and expert stitching work. I have been so completely impressed by the quality of the garment I received. K Couture does absolutely incredible work on their custom dress orders.

And finally, here is a look at back of the Tiffany blue waist sash with a self tie closure. The sash has a nice length that makes it easy to tie in the way you prefer. The sash stays in place and keeps its shape beautifully. Overall, I have been really happy with this piece, and it is one of the highest quality dresses that I own.

Tip: Custom dresses take a little longer to arrive than mass produced dresses because they are made to order, of course. However, this one was definitely worth the wait. Make sure to allow enough time for your custom dress to be made to arrive before your event!

Sneak peek! Upcoming Holiday Look Book wearing City Chic

Here is a little sneak peek of one of the outfits I filmed for my upcoming holiday lookbook video. This gorgeous little dress is from City Chic. It arrived in my latest box from Gwynnie Bee, and I think it may be a keeper. It's soooo comfortable and I love the fit of it. It's a strapless dress, so it's one that I could see myself wearing all year. During the colder months, it's perfect with a little shrug. I should be uploading my lookbook video very soon, so I'll keep you posted!
